ROBOTICS BEYOND THE COMPETITION FIELD

Sharing engineering with our community.

Hydrofluoric's work extends beyond building competition robots. Our team participates in STEM education, mentoring, robotics demonstrations, school events, and community activities throughout the year — sharing what we learn about engineering, programming, and problem-solving with students and neighbors across Harborfields and Greenlawn.

> MIDDLE_SCHOOL_PIPELINE

MENTORING THE OLDFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL ROBOTICS PROGRAM

Hydrofluoric members work directly with the Oldfield Middle School robotics program, mentoring students on programming, robot design, and engineering fundamentals.

The goal is twofold: to give younger students real engineering experience, and to strengthen the future pipeline of students who will one day join Harborfields robotics.

> ELEMENTARY_OUTREACH

INTRODUCING ROBOTICS TO ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

Some of our earliest and most rewarding outreach happens with elementary school students — giving them a first hands-on look at robots, mathematics, and engineering.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STEM NIGHT

Team members demonstrated the robot and allowed elementary students to experience robotics and scoring activities firsthand.

TJL ELEMENTARY VISIT

The team introduced students to FIRST and demonstrated the robot in action.

MATH 24 NIGHT

Hydrofluoric helped support elementary-school Math 24 events and promoted mathematics as an important engineering skill.

> ROBOTICS_EDUCATION

TEACHING THE NEXT GENERATION OF BUILDERS

Hydrofluoric members help run hands-on robotics education for younger students, using LEGO-based platforms to introduce real engineering and programming concepts.

DAISY TROOP ROBOTICS

The team introduced younger students to robotics using LEGO SPIKE systems. Participants learned basic engineering and robotics concepts.

> COMMUNITY_TOUCHPOINTS

MEETING STUDENTS AND FAMILIES WHERE THEY ARE

Hydrofluoric shows up at school and community events throughout the year, giving students and families a direct, hands-on introduction to robotics.

MIDDLE-SCHOOL STEAM EVENTS

Participation in local STEAM nights to showcase robotics to middle schoolers.

HARBORFIELDS CLUB FAIRS

A regular presence at Harborfields High School club fairs, introducing students to the team.

SAFE HALLOWEEN

Participation in the community's Safe Halloween event, connecting with families outside of school.

> COMMUNITY_SERVICE

GIVING BACK TO GREENLAWN

Hydrofluoric members have volunteered at the Greenlawn Fire Department 5K, supporting a local community event that benefits our neighborhood's first responders.

> MENTOR_NETWORK

LEARNING FROM ENGINEERS

Beyond the build season, Hydrofluoric members have learned from individual engineers and robotics alumni who generously shared their time and experience. These are personal mentoring connections, not formal partnerships or sponsorships.

A TEAM 9421 ALUMNUS AT SPACEX

A former Hydrofluoric member now working at SpaceX has shared career advice and engineering perspective with current students.

A HARBORFIELDS ROBOTICS ALUMNUS

A past participant in Harborfields robotics has stayed connected to the team, offering guidance drawn from their own experience.

AN ENGINEER AFFILIATED WITH BROOKHAVEN NATIONAL LABORATORY

An electrical engineer associated with Brookhaven National Laboratory has spoken with the team about real-world engineering practice.

A FORMER TEAM PRESIDENT AT MIT

A former Hydrofluoric team president, now attending MIT, remains a resource and mentor for current members.

SCRIMMAGE COLLABORATION

Hydrofluoric has also collaborated with another FTC robotics team during a scrimmage, exchanging engineering and strategy insights ahead of competition.
