ABOUT HYDROFLUORIC
Harborfields High School • FTC Team 9421
Hydrofluoric is Harborfields High School's FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team. We bring together students interested in engineering, programming, robotics, mathematics, design, strategy, and technology.
Students work together to design and build competition robots while developing technical and leadership skills — from CAD modeling and wiring to autonomous code and competition strategy.

WHAT IS FIRST TECH CHALLENGE?
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is an international robotics competition where student teams design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a new game challenge released each year.
Beyond the robot itself, FTC emphasizes engineering, innovation, programming, teamwork, strategy, and problem solving — skills that carry directly into college and careers.
> OUR_WORKFLOW
HOW WE WORK.
01 / PLAN
PLAN
The team has historically used tools such as task-management software, timelines, planning boards, and team meetings to organize work.
02 / DESIGN
DESIGN
Ideas are evaluated, prototyped, tested, and refined.
03 / BUILD
BUILD
Students manufacture, assemble, modify, and repair robot mechanisms.
04 / CODE
CODE
Programming controls both autonomous robot behavior and driver-controlled systems.
05 / TEST
TEST
Systems are repeatedly tested under competition-like conditions.
06 / IMPROVE
IMPROVE
Competition results and testing reveal weaknesses that guide the next iteration.
> KNOWLEDGE_TRANSFER
PASSING DOWN WHAT WE LEARN.
Experienced students teach newer members skills such as building, programming, CAD, robot troubleshooting, and competition strategy.
This mentorship helps preserve knowledge between graduating classes and keeps Hydrofluoric's robotics program sustainable year after year.
